INTRODUCTION	For week 11, we discussed pesticides in paddy fields with the Sekretariat Mahasiswa Fakulti (SMF). Pesticide application in Malaysian paddy fields is crucial for combating pests like rice stem borers and diseases such as blast and sheath blight, which pose significant threats to rice crops. Farmers use carefully selected pesticides and employ Integrated Pest Management (IPM) strategies to minimize environmental impact while ensuring effective pest control and sustainable agricultural practices.
OBJECTIVE(S)	Exposing university students to the latest news or updates in their industry helps them stay up to date on advancements, trends, and developments in their field of study. This allows them to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world applications, improving their comprehension and readiness for future careers.

6.30 am- 9.30 am	Gathered at parking space next to Blok Kuliah Ticked the attendance  Warmed up  Listened to useful information shared by Sekretariat Mahasiswa Fakulti Perladangan dan Agroteknologi (SMF FPA) Moved to Agrotech for assembly We sing Negaraku, Wawasan Setia Warga UiTM and Planters song Prayer recitation by part 3 student Prepared and brought equipment needed at Ladang Angkat. Followed our lecturer, Sir Zafri to the Ladang Angkat. Listened to Sir Zafri’s lecturer and briefing about harvesting based on the topic in the plan lesson. Started to do land clearing at the Meliponini Plot.

10.00 am- 11.00 am	Consulted with Sir Zafri regarding the watering system for my innovation group project.  Cleaned the plot. Prepared tools and equipment for building a semi-auto watering system.  Working on it. Gathered all the tools we have been using and washed them before returning them. Completed the task and end of the class
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Clearing land and harvesting oil palm involves careful steps to ensure good quality and quantity. To know when the palm fruits are ready, look for red or orange color on top and seeds dropping to the ground. It's important to gather fallen fruit promptly to prevent problems like Variable Oil Palm Syndrome. Tools like tall sickles and low hoes are used for harvesting and planting. Harvesting starts in the third year after removing young flowers and fruits to help the tree grow strong before focusing on fruit. Beetles called Elaeidobius kamerunicus help pollinate the palm trees. Managing the canopy means not cutting branches too much to keep a dense cover with 48 leaves, as cutting too much can reduce the number of female flowers. Pruning only happens during harvesting or to remove dead leaves to prevent diseases. Some oil palms are crossbred to improve their qualities. Workers wear supportive clothes for their backs. They use special wheelbarrows with chain-driven machines to collect fruit efficiently. It's crucial to bring the harvested fruit to the factory within 24 hours to avoid spoilage. Fruits are checked in bins, and each cutter has a number to track their work.

INTRODUCTION	For week 10, we discussed losses incurred from cutting down diseased oil palm trees with the Sekretariat Mahasiswa Fakulti (SMF). This discussion examines the significant financial losses incurred from cutting down diseased oil palm trees, specifically due to Ganoderma, a devastating disease that can cause severe yield reduction if not prevented early. Typically, oil palm trees take 3 to 4 years to start bearing fruit and reach full productivity at 7 to 10 years, meaning the removal of diseased trees can result in substantial yield loss over several years. The purpose of pruning in an oil palm estate is to manage pests and diseases, ensure optimal light access, facilitate harvesting, and maintain the productivity of fronds, all of which are crucial for preventing issues like Ganoderma and ensuring sustained profitability.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Pruning and sanitation are crucial for maintaining healthy and productive plants. The purposes of pruning include enhancing the aesthetic appeal of the plants, managing pests and diseases by removing affected parts before they worsen, allowing better light access, and making harvesting easier. Sanitation ensures the environment remains clear from debris, necessitating regular cleaning. In the context of oil palm, pruning involves removing fronds to optimize yield and maintain productivity, as well as ensuring sufficient sunlight capture and rapid disease detection. Proper stacking of pruned fronds can enrich the soil with nutrients and moisture. However, over-pruning can reduce bunch size and result in non-functional male flowers, as the fruit develops from female flowers. Pruning is typically done twice a year. For rubber trees, pruning facilitates movement and ensures the trees grow straight upwards.
