PREPARATION OF GROWING MEDIUM
VENUE: NURSERY PLOT
SUBMISSION DATE: 1 NOVEMBER 2023
Hi and assalamualaikum everyone! I wanted to greet you and express my gratitude for your time spent on the blog. Life is busy and hectic, so I truly appreciate you taking the time out of your busy day to read my blog. I would like to share my activities on the forth week regarding preparation of growing medium.
As usual, we need to perform Fajr prayer together at Surau At-Taqwa before went to rollcall and listened to Planters talk and it was very interesting topic to shared about.
Next, all of part 2 gathered at nursery plot to learned about preparation of growing medium.
A growing medium, also known as a "growing substrate" or "growing media," is a material used in horticulture and agriculture to support plant growth by providing physical support, allowing for proper root development, and retaining moisture and nutrients. Common growing mediums include soil, peat moss, coconut coir, perlite, vermiculite, and various soilless mixes. It provides physical support for the plant, allows for proper root development, and can retain moisture and nutrients.
Prepare composite mixture of soil, organic fertilizer, sand in 3:2:1 volume by volume ratio. Fill the pot with prepare media. support, aeration, nutrient and moisture retention. The selection of components generally depends on their availability and cost.
ADVANTAGES OF GROWING MEDIUM
It's important to choose the right growing medium for your specific plants and growing conditions to maximize these advantages.
1. Improved aeration: Growing mediums can provide better aeration to plant roots, allowing for proper oxygen exchange and reducing the risk of root rot.
2. Moisture retention: They can retain moisture, helping to maintain consistent soil moisture levels, which is crucial for plant health.
3. Nutrient support: Many growing media are designed to contain essential nutrients, promoting healthy plant growth. This is especially important for hydroponic and container gardening.
4. Consistency: Growing media offer a uniform and consistent environment for plant roots, which can lead to more predictable and reliable results.
5. Reusability: Some growing media can be reused, which can be cost-effective over time.
I guess that's all for now. Thank you for reading my blog.
