WEEK 10 (9 JUNE 2023)

PEST MANAGEMENT, FERTLIZER AND TAGGING

VENUE: FIELD, UiTM JASIN

SUBMISSION DATE: 12 JUNE 2023

Assalamualaikum and hi, thank you for reading my journey until week 10th. In this blog I am going to share the activities that I had since Hari Gawai special break. Before I go home, I checked our plot for the last time to make sure it left in a good condition.

During special break, Cypermethrin have been applied to all long bean crop because of pesticide attack.

200ml Cypermethrin/4800ml water for 9 planting bed of long bean crop.

Cypermethrin is a synthetic pyrethroid used as an insecticide on a large scale. Cypermethrin is highly toxic to fish, bees, and aquatic insects, according to the National Pesticides Telecommunications Network. It is found in many household ants and cockroach killers, including Raid and ant chalk. However, Cypermethrin can be applied both indoors and outdoors.

Type of insect at my crop

Next, on week 8th NPK Green have been applied to our crop and we have to apply every 2 weeks to give nutrient to the plants. Actually, the nitrogen in NPK fertilizer is usefully for helping plants to growth leaves and phosphorus, by contrast, helps to produce healthy flowers, buds, roots, and fruits. Last but not least potassium is used by plants to help sustain overall plant health.

As you can see, leaves of my plants..

Leaf Spots From Deficient Nutrients

Yellowing may become concentrated in either the newest growth or the oldest leaves. You may also see yellow spots or brown spot-like patches, especially when symptoms start. Even when nutrient deficiencies aren't causing the leaf spots you see, poor nutrition may still be to blame.

NPK GREEN

We need to put fertilizer around 2-3grams for every planting bed. The way to apply this time is a little bit different. On week 8th, NPK Green mix with water in watering can, but this time we put it directly without mixing it in a water. Plus, fertilizer must be apply at the trunk of the crop and be carefully put the fertilizer on the soil to make sure the fertilizer not touch the trunk of the crop because if the fertilizer touch the trunk of the crop it is may cause the trunk will be burned. This happen because the condition of the fertilizer is hot and it is made of from chemical and must be carefully handling this fertilizer.

Let's move forward with canopy on our planting bed!

Because of my plant started to growing and climbing, I need to help them to reach the sunlight and air equally.

The rope is tied between the planting bed of our friends

Yardlong beans have long vines, often growing 8 to 12 feet tall. Except for dwarf, bush varieties, we need to give them a tall support or grow them along a fence. Put a trellis or other support (tie the raffia rope) in the ground at planting time. The function of the canopy is to give space to the crop to creeping on the stack. It is because long bean is type of plant that creeping on what ever we puts on the planting bed. It is also can easier for us to plucking the long bean when it is ready to harvest.

Hmmm...

Last but not least is a tagging. The function of the tagging is easy to identify the owner of the planting bed. Besides that, we are on learning process on farm so it is must be apply by us. The tagging on our planting bed have our information such as name, class, student id, name of the crop and their scientific name also our lecturer and planters executive in charge. Each of us must put the tagging on our planting bed which is locate on in front of our planting bed.

Lastly, I feel so happy and excited seeing my plant produced very the first flower : D

Rollcall activity.

Sir Zahid visited and gave some advice to special case planting bed

Don't judge each day by the harvest you reap but by the seeds that you plant

This week only costs me RM 3.30 for tagging. That's all for this time. Stay tune for more!
Assalamualaikum wbt
