WHAT IS NOTE?

Note is a summary that you jot down about knowledge or anything you want to remember as the memory or future references. In a class, jot down what lecturer have shared is very important because student will take a look when examination is coming as their references to study.

In school, teacher always remind you to take out pencil and paper to write important message either in class or at assembly, but no one is going to remind you in university. Unless you want to.

Besides taking note on sheet, nowadays student prefer to write down important information in gadget such as iPad.

BUT WHY DO WE NEED TAKE LECTURER NOTES?

  • Promotes active learning
  • Provides an accurate record of information
  • Provides an opportunity for repetition of the material
  • Provides an opportunity to interpret, condense and organize information

HOW TO TAKE LECTURER NOTES?

1. Prepares before taking lecturer notes

2. Build up some background of the topic

DIFFERENCE SCHOOL AND UNIVERSITY

During the school days, the distance from home to school is very close and does not even have to cross the district. In addition, parents or the bus will send you to school but different when it comes to university. In order to get reach your dream, you have to leave your family, friends and get out from your comfort zone. You’re also going to have to adjust to independent living.

Once you enter university is totally new learning environment in every aspect. To begin with, universities are much bigger with thousands of students, plus choices and responsibilities is on your own shoulder, that is what you are going to make. But, don’t panic, you’ll pick it up much faster than you expect.

“First thing first, no one is going to yell at you if you don’t do your assignments or when you decide to skip lectures. It is all on you. You are in charge and responsible for your uni life as an adult. You won’t be forced to do anything, but it will always be beneficial to your learning if you do it.”

At university, you’re expected to take responsibility for your own learning. Unlike school, there will be no-one checking that you’ve done your homework, reminding you when assignments are due, or making sure you show up to your lectures. It’s up to you, how and when you want to learn.
